My road to publication was long. So very long. I wrote picture books for 18 months before signing with my brilliant agent, Becky Bagnell of Lindsay Literary Agency, in 2016. I worked with Becky on several texts before sending them out into the big, wide world. Then I waited for an offer to come in. I waited. And waited. And waited some more. Those texts didn't sell and nor did the ones after that.
I FINALLY got my first offer a year ago. My debut picture book, Oh No, Bobo, is published with Quarto in April! And I'm so pleased to say that more books will be coming soon after.
I'd love to mentor someone who's passionate about picture books. I don't mind if you've been writing for years and are still looking for your big break and I would equally love to mentor someone who is completely new to the industry. I love rhyming picture books, clever word-plays, exciting characters and sweet and gentle stories.
I'm offering critique on three full texts. I'm happy to look at several versions as we work together over the summer and I hope our relationship will continue throughout the submission process - I know how important it can be to have someone on your side.
